SESSION 8
Behold The Lamb

Group Questions

John tells us to behold the Lamb of God, to look until we see.  As you have looked today, what have you seen?

We were redeemed “with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world but was revealed in these last times for your sake.” (1 Peter 1:18-20)  Does it change how you value yourself when you see that God always planned to give himself as a sacrifice to redeem you?

Do you feel confident in approaching God? What is the basis of our confidence?

Why do we often struggle to receive the abundance of God’s grace?

Read Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” How does God’s provision of grace in the sacrifice of Jesus help you know that he will provide for you?

Watch the following clip with Dr Jane Williams. Jane helps us understands the eternal humility of God. Jane is the McDonald Professor in Christian Theology at St.Mellitus College and author of many books including the superbly written and accessible book "The Merciful Humility of God".

To discuss: The way of the world is to grab and climb higher. The Lamb takes the opposite approach. How would my life be different if I follow the Lamb wherever he goes?  (Revelation 14:4)

Watch the final clip with Ellie Hughes. Ellie left social work to found Riverbank Trust, a ministry with vulnerable families. Since then, Ellie has worked with Youth for Christ and is now involved in another pioneering ministry amongst families in the local church.

Ellie Hughes shares the story of the adopted lamb

Does Ellie’s picture of the adopted Lamb help you to grasp what Christ has done?

Read Hebrews 10:14. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

Discuss how God has made us perfect through his sacrifice for us.

Take some minutes of quiet to behold the Lamb of God..

Praise Point: What are you praising God for today?

Prayer Point: If God did not withhold his Son, he will provide for us so that we too can give generously. Share areas in your life where you need his provision and pray for one another.

Close with a prayer, offering your lives to follow the Lamb:

Father, open our eyes to see that humble, self-giving love is at the heart of who you are for eternity. This week, may we follow the Lamb wherever he goes. Amen
