SESSION 6
SHEPHERD OF ALL MY DAYS

Reverend Kenny Borthwick shares wonderfully on knowing God as our Shepherd. Kenny draws from a lifetime of walking with God through good times and hard times and of ministering to lost sheep.

Discuss as a group what has encouraged you in what Kenny said. Then watch this clip with Kate.

Group Questions

What struck you in what Kate said?

Read the following verses together:

Jesus tells us a story: “Imagine that one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Won’t he leave the ninety-nine and go searching for the lost sheep until he finds it? When he does, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and heads home. He calls his friends and his neighbours to celebrate, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep!” I tell you that in just the same way, there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over the other ninety-nine who don’t need to. (from Luke 15:3-7)

Where do you think you are in this story? Do you identify with the lost sheep?

In what ways does God come to look for us?

Could you see yourself on the Shepherd’s shoulders, safely heading home? God promises not only to find us but to keep us. How does that make us secure?

How do you respond to the truth that God rejoices over you? Speak that truth over one another: “God rejoices over you!”

How would it change how you live and give this week if you see God as your Shepherd forever?

Turning to praise: What is your praise point from this session?

Read Psalm 23 aloud together. From this Psalm, what do you need your Shepherd to do for you?

Bless one another: Choose one line from Psalm 23 to pray over someone in your group this week.
