Wake up!

How do you awaken the dawn? Can you make the sun rise? When night drags on and dawn lies buried beneath the horizon, how do you wake it to life?

King David was desperate for a new day and this is how he woke the dawn.

He woke his soul. He commanded it into action, “Awake my soul and sing!” (Psalm 57:8)

When your soul sleeps, the dawn of God’s new day for you sleeps.

Awake my soul! Don’t lie there oblivious! Cast off nightmare fears. Break free of fantasy dreams. Wake up! Awake my soul and sing!

David woke the dawn with worship:

“I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.” (Psalm 57) 

Today I sing:

Awake my soul - sing of the love of God,

Which reaches to the heavens,

Bending down to lift you high

When night lingers,

Sing of faithfulness that holds you,

And watch the rays of glory reaching to the skies.

Awake my soul!

Exalt the Lord of Lords

And watch as the dawn breaks in.
