Time to reset

Time to reset

It’s time to hit the reset button.

I have discovered that when your computer is misbehaving, there is a not-so complex procedure you can go through that often sorts it out – turn it off and on again.

Sometimes we need to hit the reset button on life.

What does that look like for you?

Is it taking some time out, having a holiday, turning off the switch so that you reset your priorities? Is it resetting your mind so that you stop going down well-worn grooves of worry or disappointment or unforgiveness? Is it deliberately putting yourself in places where God is at work, receiving his peace and hope and grace?

I have found over the last years, that at times I have had to reset how I grieve, not to shut off the sadness when it comes but to deliberately come to God for comfort, to grieve with hope and not despair, reminding myself of how God turns the worst to good, how he always has more love and blessing to pour into us and through us.

This summer, we have spent hours outside and on frazzling hot days, I keep being drawn to water. We had some amazing wild swimming in the Lakes. Being in God’s creation resets me – it reminds me that I am little and God is big, it reminds me that he is the Maker of all that is beautiful, it reminds me that he that he leads me by still waters to restore my soul - to reset me.

The wonderful thing about the mercy of God is that he daily gives us the chance to reset our hearts.

May God wonderfully bless you this summer and give you moments when you can switch off and reset your life in him.

With love,

Kate
