Freedom and Lockdown

Another level of lockdown was announced last night. Every week, the restrictions have tightened as the news has worsened. Today I heard of another friend in hospital with pneumonia.

But when it comes to prayer, we are not restricted. Lockdown sounds like prison but we are not prisoners. We are free. Free to come to our loving God, free to approach the throne of grace, free from fear, free to pray blessing over our world, over our nation, over our churches and those we love.

When our words run out, we can pray down the blessing of God,

May the Lord bless you with his presence
And keep you in this troubled time
May the Lord make his face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
May the Lord turn his face towards you so that you shine with his glory in the darkness
May the Lord give you his peace that passes understanding.

And so may he write his name across your lives to be clearly seen.
