Hope

The future has never been so uncertain. Many of us face unexpected challenges – from home-schooling kids with cabin fever to businesses closing, loved ones sick, grandparents cut off and too far off, medical appointments delayed, finances plummeting, jobs lost, fear of what’s to come.

Facing troubles that equal ours, Paul said, “On God, we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us.” (2 Cor 1:10)

If we have learned anything in our past few years of trouble, it is that we can hope even in the storm.

Why do we hope?

Because of the past – we know that at great cost, God delivered us from death and sin - he surely will come through for us now.

Because God is present - always working for good for those who love him in ALL circumstances. He didn’t plan a world with coronavirus but he works in it, patiently crafting his image in us, providing more than enough grace, caring for the afflicted and stretching his arms out to the lost through us.

Because God is our future – we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God! (Romans 5:2) The end of the path is glory.

Where will you set your hope today?

Here is a prayer for us to be praying for one another:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
