Set your heart
I am sometimes bewildered by the sheer amount of stuff in my head – it can be a scary space at the best of times but in the last few weeks, the logistics of getting a new home raised the stress levels above a gentle simmer towards boiling over.
Here is a verse that has helped me-
Set your heart on things above, not on earthly things.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:2-3
I needed reminding that I can choose where I set my mind and heart. Setting God highest made a huge difference to my anxiety levels last week. I have been given a new life in Christ and it is secure for eternity so why fret?
As we enter Lent, the question is not whether to give up chocolate or alcohol but where we set our hearts. If giving up and adding something helps to reset our hearts, then great, but otherwise we have missed the point.
Always, God is after our hearts. Why? Because we have his. Here is the greatest reason of all to set your heart on God – God first set his heart on you.
