Behold the Lamb
John the Baptist introduces Jesus with words that ring across history,
‘Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’
Life is so full that sometimes I only give God a cursory glance. But we are called to behold - to gaze, to linger here.
Behold the one who went humbly to the slaughter to redeem us- the lion who became the lamb.
Behold the one who waits patiently to bear your sin away.
Behold the one whose blood can cleanse the dirtiest stain.
Behold the one who gives himself away – for you and to you.
First, we behold, then we follow. Like the saints throughout all the ages, we are to ‘follow the Lamb wherever he goes’ - along the path of self-giving love (Revelation 12:11).
Where is the Lamb of God leading you today?
