What is on God's mind?

What is on God's mind?

You are.

Who can presume to know the mind of God? His ways are higher than ours. Which is a very good thing.

But the Bible does give us a glimpse of what the Father, Son and Spirit talk about with each other.

You.

Not that you are the sole topic of discussion but you are on God’s mind.

Jesus is talking to the Father about you, interceding for you (Romans 8:34. In 1 John 2:1 and Hebrews 7:25). It doesn’t stop there. The Holy Spirit is interceding for us with groans (Romans 8:26). God is talking to God about you.

Groans sounds a bit discouraging but God isn’t groaning about you with annoyance. God’s groaning is like the groan of the Olympian discus player giving all of themself in the throw. Or the tennis player serving at scary decibel level.

It’s not a hopeless groan. It’s like the groan of the mother giving birth.

It’s God giving all of God’s self, utterly committed to you, to complete the work that he has begun on your behalf.

Sometimes we believe the lie that God has forgotten us. Whatever pain or sorrow or fear or hopes or joy fill your heart today, look up and remember that you are on God’s mind.
